Peter is tertiary qualified in law, economics and property studies, and has had over 25 years’ experience in project and risk management in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the Middle East. . Experienced in senior roles as an executive, Peter was formerly Senior Director of National Australia Bank’s Strategic Transactions Group. He attended Harvard Business School Executive Program in 2005.
Peter is well-versed in statutory compliance and internal reporting. He has specific expertise in the areas of regulation, risk assessment, risk management, funding, organisational development during periods of rapid change, and troubleshooting operational problems. He has served on several audit and risk committees. Peter is also highly experienced in managing the start-up of new projects and programmes.
Peter is very experienced and knowledgeable in governance and management. He was awarded full Accreditation from the NZ Institute of Directors in 2009, and served as a Board member on the REAA (Crown Agency regulator) from 2009-2013, and as an independent director on the Board of one of NZ’s largest non-bank lenders (First Mortgage Trust) from 2005-2008.
Peter acted as an advisor to the Health Funding Authority. He has also worked with DHBs on various funding and development projects. Peter has performed numerous advisory and project management roles for private sector, iwi, and government clients. These assignments have included due diligence, business case preparation, peer reviews, reporting audits and redesign, and getting difficult projects back on track.
Peter has a strong interest, and experience, in migrating services online and cyber security. He was a co-founder of two online business platforms (fundit.co.nz andinvestit.co.nz). In 2015 Peter was Project Manager for the review of Immigration NZ’s eMedical online platform. He has in-depth experience in managing projects, meeting multiple-stakeholder requirements, and reaching successful results.
Peter is PRINCE2, Managing Successful Programs and Management of Portfolios certified, and is currently completing his Graduate Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health. Peter is qualified in resource management and is also a qualified mediator. In 2013 Peter published a book on risk management.
